
Martin G. Hu is the Founding Partner of Martin Hu& Partners (the MHP Law Firm). He received his LL.B. degree from Wuhan University Law School and LL.M. degree in Taxation from Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio, USA. He is admitted to practice law in both the State of Ohio and the People's Republic of China. He practiced law for three years with an American law firm in Ohio in the field of corporate law, tax law and cross-border transactions before returning to China. He then served as Legal Counsel of Phillips Electronics China Group before he founded Boss & Young together with other senior partners of the firm. Martin Hu has been retained by many multinational companies as lead counsel for their major projects from the planning to the closing stage, in connection with business structuring, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and other complex corporate and commercial transactions. Martin Hu was recognized as a leading lawyer in the field of Corporate and M&A by the recent Chambers Asia published by British Chambers & Partners. Martin Hu has been active in the professional and political arena. In 2008, he was elected to the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (the top political advisory body in China) for a five-year term. He was awarded the"Top Ten Young Lawyers in Shanghai of Year 2008". He is serving as Chairman of the Corporate Law Committee of Shanghai Bar Association, Vice-Chair of the Young Lawyer Committee of Shanghai Bar Association, Member of the Young Lawyer Committee of National Bar Association. He was Ex-Chairman of the Legal Sub-Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and received several times the"Outstanding Lawyer of Shanghai"awards granted by the Shanghai Justice Bureau.
